Taking it out of the paulownia wood box / Spreading the scroll to write or draw / Rolling it up / Tying it / Closing the box
Displaying the scroll in the upright position / Fixing the paper when it becomes unaligned
Depending on the writing utensil, ink or colors may bleed through to the opposite side. Particularly sharp utensils may also cause perforations. Check the strength of your writing utensil on a piece of test paper before writing on the scroll.
We recommend using an underlay. When using a pencil, ballpoint pen, or other sharp utensil, use an underlay made of hard plastic or similar material. When using felt-tipped marker, brush, or other softer utensil, try using old newspapers.
Fountain pens tend to bleed very easily on this kind of paper, so please refrain from using them.
